It was the summer of 2017 when I was approached with the opportunity to perform at a women’s conference. The woman who suggested I dance for the conference hadn’t known that it was a whole 3 years since I had danced on a public stage. So she didn’t know what type of anxiety I was already experiencing by not fulfilling my “purpose”. She not only asked me to dance but requested the song God’s Not Done With You by Tauren Wells. When I heard the song for the first time, it was the perfect reminder that it’s never too late to begin again.
As I normally have it, I asked my husband to film the long-awaited dance and to test out the new camera that we had just received a few weeks prior. After the event, we realized that he was filming in 180fps which is why the footage is in slow-motion. To cover up my rusty dance moves, I didn’t mind this mishap. LOL
“But God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right—everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones.” -Isaiah 30:18 MSG
It’s never too late to begin again; God’s not done with you.
Leading up to the performance, I was so nervous and anxious to dance before the LORD on that Saturday morning. I felt as if dancing was over for me because I was too old (I was only 26) or that I wasn’t good enough. Without realizing it, I needed to get up on that stage and dance before those women. It seemed that getting up on stage and dancing through my own waning thoughts became an encouragement to others who were also feeling a sense of delayed purpose.
It is the perfect example of how gracious God is towards us and how the call and purpose for your life won’t ever leave you..even when you’re struggling to find it. He has taught me that it’s never too late to begin again and God’s not done with you.
“I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put his finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!” -Philippians 1:6 TPT
