When I came up with the concept of Keys, I had started my first 9-5 after being a dance teacher for 3 years. Dancing has been something that I’ve always dreamed of doing. When I was about 8 years, I would lock myself in my room and pretend I’m the choreographer and the video director. Talk about imagination.
When I had to find a “real job”, dancing seemed to fall by the wayside and a part of me felt empty. Keys came from a place of questioning my purpose and calling in God. It seemed as if the moment I stopped dancing due to my corporate calling, all the questioning began to arise. “What is my purpose? “What am I meant to do?’ I felt bombarded with all the questions.
My husband, Rell, also dabbles in the Arts and Entertainment by making music for God, as a hip-hop artist. I love being married to an artist because we’re always collaborating and bouncing ideas off of each other. At the time, we had just bought a camera to begin creating our own music and dance videos. We wanted the leisure to create when and how we wanted without having to work around someone else’s rules or schedule.
It’s time to Create
In my day to day, I kept hearing the word create. I believe this was the voice of God nudging me to create even in my searching. I was listening to a Women’s Bethel Conference when I first heard of The Giving Keys. It’s a company where you choose a word such as strength, courage or love and they have it stamped on a re-purposed key worn as jewelry. When you meet someone, who may need the word more than you do you pay it forward and give them the key. Another reason why I love The Giving Keys is every key purchased helps those transitioning from homelessness by employment. I felt that the key was an outward expression of what I was going through and an awesome conversation starter.

What Keys will you find to unlock your dreams?
As time went on I realized everything that all we will ever need to fulfill the plans that God has laid out for us is lying deep within. If we ask ourselves, What have I loved all my life? Or what have I been doing? It’s right in front of our face. It’s true to who we are and we aren’t guessing.
We’re all born with a gift. A gift that’s waiting to be unwrapped, unleashed, unlocked. Usually, the key to unleashing all God has for us is doing something with what God has already placed in our hands. Find the key that will unlock your dreams. In the comments below, tell me one word that you may feel be sticking out to you right now or what you believe God may be calling you to. What will be your defining moment?
God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. – John 1:3-4
