As I stumbled out of bed on a Sunday morning, my head felt like it was spinning. I was so confused, probably still asleep as I made a bowl of cereal. I plopped down at my kitchen table to hear the word “Transition”. Half asleep and clearly not enough coffee to comprehend anything, I brushed it off. A few days later, I remembered what happened and grabbed my dictionary.
Transition- Pass from one state, stage to another; to change; to movement development or evolution
I immediately thought “Oh God, what is this going to cost me?” Sometimes transitions don’t always feel good, and if you are going through any kind of change you know that you are going to have to let go of the old in order to embrace the new.
A Transition happens
A butterfly, a beautiful brightly colored winged insect, also goes through a transition called metamorphosis which means to transform. As the caterpillar grows it splits and sheds its skin about 4-5 times, growing 100 times their actual size. Like the butterfly, we often outgrow our skin and maturity in Christ. “Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.” -Ecc 7:8
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Then the magic happens. The pupa buries itself under a branch and hides within leaves, creating its cacoon. ( John 15:4) When we look around it may seem like nothing is going on but big changes are happening on the inside. And finally the butterfly is born. Throughout this life, we will go through seasons of change and while it may be scary and uncomfortable, we must remember we are evolving into all that God says we are. We must trust in God that the sole purpose is to change our hearts and transform us into the authentic women we were created to be.
Accept the way God does things, for who can straighten what he has made crooked” Ecclesiastes 7:13-14.
“If transition has not changed who you are on the inside, it has failed in its objective. Because the objective of transition is you! Transition is the transformation of who you are as a person, so you are created for greater capacity for tomorrow’s potential.” – David McCrackken
