Ah, those words seem so surreal but yes WE’RE PREGNANT! Our pregnancy announcement was very simple and cute. When we found out we were pregnant, we actually kept it between us for almost 8 weeks! Oh my gosh, that was one of the hardest secrets to keep. Before we get ahead of ourselves, let me tell you a story of what transpired before we got pregnant. You’re going to enjoy this.
About 2-3 months before we found out the exciting news, I had a dream. In this dream, I heard a voice say “You will be pregnant in December, due in the Summer, and it will be a girl.” I believe the next day, I immediately began asking the LORD what this dream meant. Because I was really scratching my head like “God this math doesn’t add up. Needless to say, I was super excited and also very confused. Months leading up to this dream, we were having conversations around starting a family but never came to a decision. Around this time, we started practicing Natural Family Planning to better prepare ourselves for when we started trying. In addition, we chose I wouldn’t be on birth control due the effects and invasive hormones it has on the women’s body.
Our Pregnancy Announcement
It was shortly after Thanksgiving and my period was exactly a week late. I figured, it was out of whack ‘cause we had 5 weeks in that month and sometimes our cycles change. On December 1, 2019 I woke up at 3 am and took a pregnancy test. To my surprise it immediately read positive! With a shocked look on my face, I jumped back into bed and slightly woke my sleeping husband and told him the news. We instantly soaked it up! Because we were in the month of December, we decided we wanted our pregnancy announcement to our parents on Christmas Day. For my parents we bought them customized tumblers that read Grandma and Grandpa, which we recorded. It truly was a very special day and both sides of our family were in complete shock! Moreover, we all are so excited to welcome our precious gift.
On February 22, 2020, we found out our little bee is a GIRL and confirmed the dream I had earlier. I say all this to say, trust in the LORD and do not lean on your own understanding. When we first got married, I was to ask God when we would start our family and began praying for his specific timing. I slowly began to realize that God’s timing is always perfect, God is always with us (Emmanuel) and the Holy Spirit is leading and guiding us into all truth. If you are waiting for anything, keep this encouragement…He knows the desires of our hearts and will give them to us when He sees fit. He is the gift giver and all good things come from Him!
